A spokeswoman for the ministry of privatization announced on Tuesday that the bid deadline for Pakistan International Airlines has been moved up to October 31.
It had previously been announced before a parliamentary committee on privatization that the PIA will be auctioned off on Tuesday.
The national flag airline has taken out many government bailout packages in recent years, but it is currently saddled with debt of almost Rs800 billion ($2.9 billion).
The ministry has authorized October 31 as the new date for the auction, according to the spokesman.
The bidding was postponed, according to two ministry officials who had earlier told Reuters, because the bidders needed more time to consider the auction’s terms and conditions.
