The first half of the fiscal year 2024–2025 saw a record $18 billion in worker remittances, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
According to the SBP’s data, Pakistanis living abroad have made a substantial contribution to the nation’s economy and currency stability.
Remittances totaled $17.84 billion from July to December 2024, with $3.88 billion coming in December alone. This represents a significant 29% increase over the same period last year and a 6% monthly increase.
With $770 million sent by Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia, the country dominated the remittance inflow in December. The United States came in second with $284 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with $630 million and the United Kingdom with $460 million.
