The Indian Foreign Office (FO) categorically rejected “any narrative that suggests that the dispute has been or can be settled unilaterally” in reaction to Indian Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s remarks on the disputed territory of Kashmir on Sunday.
“The Jammu and Kashmir dispute is acknowledged on a global scale and needs to be settled in line with the decisions made by the UN Security Council (UNSC) and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The peace and stability of South Asia depend on the resolution of this unsolved dispute, FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated in a statement.
The period of “uninterrupted dialogue” with Pakistan has ended, according to Jaishankar, who also stated that New Delhi will react to events “whether positive or negative” on Friday.
