PESHAWAR: Ihtesham Ali, the chief minister’s adviser on health for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), verified the discovery of the second mpox case of 2025 at Bacha Khan International Airport. This brings the province’s overall number of cases to 11 since 2022.
The Public Health Reference Lab has confirmed that a five-month-old newborn has the mpox virus, the health adviser said Thursday, providing details about the most recent case.
The child and her Qatari parents had just landed in Pakistan at Peshawar Airport.
The Health Department has started monitoring the child’s parents to make sure they are safe and healthy after the case was confirmed.
Additionally, a letter asking for the passenger details of individuals that traveled has been given to the airport authorities.
