On the thirteenth day of the Indo-Pakistan War, September 13, 1965, Pakistan declared multiple military victories over Indian forces. While blocking Indian advances near Khem Karan, the Pakistani forces claimed to have taken control of the Bao Railway Station.
India lost a great deal in the first eight days of the war, about half of its armed forces, 209 tanks, and 140 planes, according to sources in Pakistan.
According to reports, the Pakistan Air Force shot down a Gnat aircraft in the Sialkot area and damaged six Indian cargo planes at Jammu Airfield. Additionally, Pakistani forces asserted that they had thwarted numerous Indian attempts to advance in Kasur, Jammu, and Sialkot, among other areas.
In the meantime, the Indian government prohibited reporters from openly covering the fighting and entering areas of strife.
