In the current year, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has registered 2,617 new firms, increasing the total number of registered companies to 231,111, a 6% increase from 2023.
Private limited firms accounted for 55% of new registrations, while single-member corporations made for 41%, according to SECP data. Limited liability partnerships, trade associations, non-profit associations, and publicly traded unlisted corporations made up the remaining 4%.
With 377 new businesses registered, the trading industry led the way, followed by the services sector with 306 new businesses. There were 237 new entries in the real estate development sector, 125 in the tourist and e-commerce sector, and 112 in the food and beverage sector.
99.8% of registrations were finished online via SECP’s digital platform, marking an important milestone in the digital transformation process.
