ISLAMABAD In an effort to improve the efficacy of their monitoring, the Pakistani authorities have decided to institute a new process for the entry and exit of Afghan people, News reported on Tuesday, citing sources.
The sources state that at the border in Torkham, the Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) and Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, which are essential identity documents possessed by more than 1.3 million refugees, will be turned over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
They also stated that individuals who choose to return to Afghanistan will be handed a voluntary return form, on which they will get a grant in Afghanistan.
The sources added that in the absence of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the FIA will retain the cards of individuals returning to Afghanistan.They added that the card will not be given back once it has been punched or turned over to the FIA. The new approach aims to increase the efficacy of Afghan citizen monitoring.
