After becoming a viral sensation and winning the hearts of millions of Pakistanis, “Blockbuster” now appears to be making its way into India.
Since its May release, the song has become ingrained in listeners’ thoughts. It is a part of Coke Studio Pakistan’s season 15, which has already garnered media attention due to the enormous success of its lead single, “Aayi Aayi”.
The popular folk music track “Blockbuster” was created by Pakistani musicians Zulfikar Jabbar Khan (Xulfi), Umair Butt, rapper Faris Shafi, and Shamroz Butt.
Faris, Umair, and the all-female group Gharwi Group—which consists of Abida, Rooha Rawal, Sajida Bibi, and Saba Hassan—vote on it.
The lively music video, which was recorded in a single take and features a stunning performance of the song, has received over 19 million views on YouTube.
It also included a fantastic dance piece performed by the well-known Norwegian hip-hop/urban dance company Quick Style, which was started by the twin brothers Suleman and Bilal Malik, who are from Pakistan, and Nasir Sirikhan, a boyhood friend from Norway who is from Thailand.
Fans of Coke Studio in India were taken aback when the song appeared among the top tracks on Spotify in their nation. The song is growing in popularity abroad.
On Instagram, Indian listeners responded to the Pakistani song’s rising popularity in their nation.
“United by Coke Studio… divided by history,” a user said.
