ISLAMABAD The number of Pakistani applicants for US visas has climbed dramatically, surpassing the record set last year, according to a Thursday story in The News that quoted US Embassy representatives.
This breakthrough follows a dramatic reduction in the processing time for US visa applications, with over 10,000 applications being completed each month.
Speaking to members of the media, the embassy representatives stated that 2023 saw the largest volume of visas given from the US Embassy in Islamabad and the Karachi Consulate.
They predicted that by October 2024, “this number will be higher than last year due to an increase in Pakistani visa applications.”
The officials stated that the primary cause of the processing delay was the crisis that caused the processing time to increase to 440 days earlier. The period of time after emergency measures were implemented has been shortened to 237 days, according to the officials, and it will be further shortened.
They clarified, meanwhile, that other from the processing time, no other modifications had been made to the visa requirements.
The officials said that in order to expedite the processing of applications, more visa officers have been assigned.
