Rising costs for necessities are the main cause of this increase, as they continue to impact households all throughout the nation.
The analysis notes that during the previous week, the costs of fourteen necessities rose. Tomatoes witnessed a price increase of Rs 6.63 per kg, while onions saw an increase of Rs 3.51 per kg. These price increases are noteworthy. Dal mash saw a sharp increase in price as well, jumping by Rs 10.92 per kg. The price of a dozen bananas increased by Rs 2.57, while other prices increased for milk, potatoes, and cigarettes.
Positively, several goods saw a drop in price. The price of a household LPG cylinder decreased by Rs 150.69, while the cost of a dozen eggs decreased by Rs 15.77. There was a reduction in price of Rs 34.33 for a 20-kg bag of flour and Rs 0.17 per kg of sugar. Furthermore, rice, dal mong, dal masoor, and chicken all saw a minor decrease in price, which helped customers somewhat.
Over the course of the week, certain commodities’ prices stayed constant. For the benefit of customers, the costs of mutton, ghee, and cooking oil were constant.
The yearly comparison paints an inconsistent image. Prices for red peppers, tomatoes, and onions have increased by 60%, 82%, and 53%, respectively, over the previous year.
