KARACHI: Haider Ali, the leading para-athlete in Pakistan, has voiced his displeasure at the lack of acknowledgement and encouragement for his accomplishments in the para-sports world.
In a special interview with News, Ali emphasized that although the Paralympics are considered to be just as important as the Olympics globally, he has not gotten the recognition he is due.
“Despite winning four medals for Pakistan at the Paralympics, I haven’t gotten the credit I deserve,” Haider Ali said. He bemoaned the discrepancy in compensation between himself and another sportsman Arshad Nadeem, who has been praised above and beyond the parameters of the regulation. “I didn’t even receive what was required by sports policy, and Arshad received more than the policy.”
