Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris has shown glimpses of its rebuilt majesty following a terrible fire that destroyed its splendor in April 2019.
The continuing rehabilitation effort enters a critical point, with Paris excitedly anticipating its grand reopening on December 8.
As the last pieces of scaffolding are meticulously demolished, the cathedral’s façade is gradually revealed, giving visitors a peek of the meticulous restoration operations. The newly installed golden rooster, representing a phoenix rising from the ashes, now crowns the spire’s apex—a dramatic symbol of Notre Dame’s heroic resurrection.
Local resident Frederico Benani, whose window overlooks the church, revealed his emotional reaction to watching Notre Dame’s restoration. “It’s a lot better than before. “It gives us hope,” he said, capturing the sentiments expressed around the community.
