Speaking before the National Assembly, Federal Minister of Defense Khawaja Asif asserted that as lawmakers, it is our first responsibility to enact laws and that there is no political element to the discussion on constitutional amendments.
He stated that the constitutional amendment proposal would be presented to the House once everyone was in agreement.
A recent amendment to Section 63A clarified that in the event of a draft proposal pertaining to the Constitutional Court, votes must be cast but remain uncounted. It is also followed in many democratic nations and is included in the Charter of Democracy (COD),” he stated.
That does not imply that Parliament would be overstepped, he said.
According to Khawaja Asif, a body will be established to investigate constitutional issues in a particular case.
