Following violent skirmishes that left 50 people dead and 120 injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, Deputy Commissioner Javed Allah Mehsood announced the establishment of a ceasefire among all tribes on Saturday.
He informed the media that security and law enforcement officers had been sent to the front lines of hostilities between the rival tribes.
There were also similar clashes and cease-fires in July.
The DC claims that with the help of tribal chiefs and jirga members, control has been reclaimed in places including Pewar, Teri Mengal, Kunj, Alizai, Maqbal, and Para Chamkani Karman. At the locations of confrontation, white flags have been flown to indicate the presence of law enforcement and security personnel.
