On October 12, photojournalist Paul Lowe, who documented wars such as the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian war, was discovered dead at a well-traveled hiking trail in the San Gabriel Mountains.
According to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s documents, the 60-year-old had been stabbed in the neck.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, his 19-year-old son Emir Lowe was “subsequently involved in a solo traffic collision a few miles away” prior to his arrest after being observed driving away from the site.
He is scheduled to appear in court for the first time after being charged with one count of murder.
According to the sheriff’s office, the stabbing occurred along Mount Baldy Road close to Stoddard Canyon Falls around 3:28 p.m. local time (11.28 p.m. UK time).
Responding officers also reported that they found a “white male adult suffering trauma to his upper torso.”
