The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected Tony Hemming as the new chief curator for a two-year term.
The Western Australian will travel to Lahore on Wednesday to take up his position.
Preparing pitches for the five upcoming ICC World Test Championship matches against Bangladesh (two in August/September) and England (three in October) would be one of Hemming’s urgent responsibilities.
In addition, he will be in charge of pitch preparations for Pakistan’s 2025 hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy, which runs from February 19 to March 9.
In addition, he is a well-known curator with almost forty years of expertise. He has worked in Bangladesh, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and other nations, as well as at a number of renowned cricket venues in Australia, including Melbourne, Perth, and Tasmania.
In addition to managing pitch preparation at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, which served as one of Pakistan’s home grounds from 2009 until 2019, he was employed by the ICC.
It should be mentioned that Hemming took over for Zahid, who began his career in 2001 by becoming a member of the Chairman PCB Curators Committee. Later, in 2004, Zahid was named Chief Curator. Although he had left this position in 2020, former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja reappointed him in 2021.
