With an emphasis on counterterrorism, the US Department of Defense has reaffirmed that security cooperation with Pakistan is still ongoing.
At a news briefing, Pentagon spokesperson General Patrick made this announcement, underscoring the two countries’ ongoing engagement in the fight against terrorism.
“We continue to have security cooperation with Pakistan, with a particular emphasis on counterterrorism,” he said in response to inquiries about the status of defense ties between the US and Pakistan at the moment.
He emphasized the long history of cooperation between the two nations in their joint battle against terrorism and mentioned that talks about security cooperation are still a frequent part of bilateral meetings.
General Patrick acknowledged the solid basis of defense ties between the US and Pakistan, but he did not elaborate on any additional security aid packages for counterterrorism.
