PESHAWAR: On Monday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expressed disapproval of the way the party’s founder, Imran Khan, is being treated at the Adiala jail. The PTI described the treatment as “an attempt to break his will” and said that the former prime minister is being treated like a terrorist.
PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram criticized the government for refusing to allow the meeting with the jailed party founder during a news conference in Peshawar. He claimed that the authorities still forbid meetings with the jailed party founder in spite of court orders.
After being removed by a no-confidence motion in April 2022, Imran has been detained since August 2023 on a number of allegations, including terrorism and corruption.
The incumbent government has been repeatedly accused by his party of breaking the jail manual.
