KOHAT/PARACHINAR: Following a four-day pause because of persistent security concerns, vehicles carrying cargo bound for the unrest-plagued Kurram district returned to Hangu’s Tal tehsil on Tuesday.
The trucks’ drivers, who had been waiting at Tal in Hangu district to continue to Parachinar, chose to turn around because they were frustrated with the lack of progress in reopening the highways to the city, according to The News.
On January 4, efforts started to transport necessary food supplies and other items to different areas of Kurram district. However, a sit-in protest by local tribes in Mandori and an attack on Kurram Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud in the Bagan district of Lower Kurram caused setbacks for the operation.
