Known as the most scariest actor in the world, the 66-year-old actor revealed to News that he realized he had “gone sinister” while doing a voiceover for Anchor Butter.
The Scottish actor is making the most of his upcoming return to the role of serial killer Gideon Shepherd in the second season of the psychological thriller The Devil’s Hour.
Capaldi clarifies, saying, “I’m not sure how that happened. As a young actor, I always portrayed characters that were kind of easygoing and friendly, with a little of geekiness. And that’s when I started to alter, perhaps around the time of Malcolm Tucker.”
In the sitcom The Thick Of It, he portrayed the despotic spin doctor Malcolm Tucker for seven years. He also returned to the role in the 2009 film adaptation.
Thought to have been heavily influenced by spin doctor Alastair Campbell, a Blair advisor during his Labour leadership, Capaldi’s portrayal was full of violence, fury, and strong language.
The character was a popular favourite, turning Capaldi into a household name.
