ISLAMABAD According to official papers that Geo News was able to collect, consumers are paying a substantial amount in taxes, tariffs, and margins on petroleum goods.
According to the records, high-speed diesel (HSD) is subject to a tax of Rs104.59 per liter, while petrol is subject to taxes, charges, and margins of Rs107.12 per liter.
The ex-refinery price of petrol is Rs 148.51 per liter before taxes and levies, while the price of HSD is Rs 154.06 per liter. Both fuel and HSD are subject to a petroleum levy of Rs 70 per liter.
Additionally, the customs charge on gasoline is Rs 15.28 per liter, but the customs duty on HSD is Rs 15.78 per liter.
Oil marketing companies (OMCs) receive Rs 7.87 per liter, while dealers receive Rs 8.64 per liter in commission on petrol and HSD.
