An exciting event occurred last night when a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Karachi to Dubai managed to arrive at its destination in spite of a mid-flight emergency.
PK213—a PIA flight headed for Dubai—left Karachi at 2:05 a.m. last night and encountered trouble about an hour later while passing over the Muscat region.
In just six minutes, the aircraft, which was flying at 36,000 feet, dropped to a crucial altitude of 10,000 feet over the Gulf of Oman, forcing the pilot to register an emergency on the radar at 3:08 am, a PIA spokeswoman said.
The unidentified pilot of the Airbus A320 aircraft found that the aircraft’s hydraulic system had suffered a serious malfunction when he called air traffic control in Muscat for assistance.
