In reaction to an alleged sexual assault of a female student at a private college in Lahore, students in Rawalpindi have protested outside of a number of campuses.
Protesters destroyed windows at the Peshawar Road Campus and set fire to the Quaid Campus in Islamabad.
Operation Hafiz Kamran Asghar, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Rawalpindi, stated that while they would not wish to detain students, they would take legal action against anyone who attempted to break the law in the name of protests.
Following extensive attention to social media accusations last week about an alleged rape at a private institution, a security officer who was thought to have been engaged in the incident was arrested.
