LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: A three-member inquiry committee has been established by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to look into purported anomalies in the Port Qasim Authority’s (PQA) property lease, according to a Monday story in The News.
The directors of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) will be members of the inquiry committee, which will be convened by the chairman of the PM Inspection Committee.
This comes after Senator Faisal Vawda, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Maritime, brought attention to the problem. According to reports, the PQA site has been leased for the construction of small and medium-sized industrial parks.
After noticing the massive scandal, the authorities made the decision to look into it.
The three-member inquiry committee will, in the meanwhile, request a vacation of stay in order to prevent the 12-year lease from being canceled.
