Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Vladimir Putin on his re-election as President of Russia.
In a message posted on X (previously Twitter), Prime Minister Sharif congratulated President Putin on his victory in the Russian presidential election.
The prime minister also emphasized the importance of Pakistan and Russia’s strong bilateral relationship, expressing his readiness to work with President Putin’s administration to further and deepen such ties.
President Vladimir Putin won the Russian presidential election by a landslide, with a record 88% of the vote. With this re-election, Putin is expected to extend his stay as Russia’s leader for another six years, exceeding historical landmarks and becoming the country’s longest-serving leader since over two countries.
However, numerous Western countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, have expressed suspicion and refused to acknowledge the election results, calling the elections rigged.
In reaction to Western criticism, President Putin warned against the presence of Western military forces in Ukraine and NATO intervention, claiming that such moves might exacerbate tensions and push the world into a third world war.
