As the number of cases surged to 17 in 2024, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday launched a special anti-poliovirus campaign to ensure the disease’s total eradication from the nation.
The country’s 115 districts will be the focus of the polio campaign, which aims to immunize at least 30 million children under five against this crippling illness.
From September 9 to September 15, some 286,000 polio workers will go door-to-door to give the kids polio drops as part of the campaign.
PM Shehbaz stated, “We are appreciative of the allies and friendly international organizations working with the government to combat polio.”
He was upbeat about the success of the federal government working with partners and provincial governments.
