ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: In an open letter to US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif demanded the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who has been incarcerated in the US for a number of years.
The prime minister wrote to Biden on October 13 requesting the US president to step in in the situation, which is deserving of sympathy because Siddiqui is still being held at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Carswell in Texas.
Female convicts of all security levels are housed at the FMC Carswell; these inmates mainly have particular needs related to their physical and mental well-being.
There, she is presently serving an 86-year term from the Southern District Court of New York, which has no chance of parole.
