Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has claimed that over 100 Afghan nationals were arrested at a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest in Islamabad last month, but the Ministry of Interior and Islamabad police officials have refused to offer proof.
During a press conference on October 5, Naqvi and Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Islamabad, claimed that Afghan nationals were among those arrested following an October 4 protest in the capital by former prime minister Imran Khan’s PTI.
“Last night in our clashes [with PTI], 41 Afghan nationals were arrested,” Naqvi stated. “A total of 120 Afghans have been apprehended in the past 48 hours. This is concerning. When your own citizens demonstrate, that’s one thing.
