Seven Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members have been arrested by Rawalpindi police, who also raided the residences of numerous party leaders during the night in preparation for the PTI’s October 15 protest in Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
Rashid Hafiz, Arif Abbasi, Raja Basharat, and former MPA Wahid Qasim were among the notable PTI individuals whose homes were raided; however, the leadership remained elusive.
A police official declared that all protests and rallies are prohibited in Rawalpindi due to Section 144, which forbids gatherings. The forthcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit has put security on high alert.
Shehryar Riaz, a previous candidate for the National Assembly, was not home when the raid was conducted, hence it was unsuccessful.
