Police in New South Wales (NSW) say that a senior player received instructions from an “organised crime figure currently offshore in South America” to arrange for yellow cards during games in exchange for money.
Bookings were allegedly modified between November 24 and December 9, 2023.
Police did not identify the players arrested on Friday, but said they were from a south Sydney club.
Macarthur FC, headquartered in south Sydney, issued a statement saying it is “shocked and aware” of the arrests.
“Integrity of our game is a foundation pillar and we will work closely with all relevant agencies on this matter,”
