In Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, police have used tear gas to scatter demonstrators against the government over alleged election fraud from last month.
The largest protest against the ruling Frelimo party, which was proclaimed the victor of the October 9 election and extended its 49-year rule, took place on Thursday.
Amid hunger brought on by the drought and unrest, Mozambique goes to the elections.
In favor of opposition leader Venancio Mondlane, who claims the vote was stolen and has called for a week of protests that will end on Thursday, large crowds of primarily young men blocked streets with burning tires and held homemade banners.
