Iqbal Kousar and Mahboob, who live in Chak 41/SP in Pakpattan, welcomed a daughter on June 18 via a typical birth attended by midwives Sakeena and Samina, who dwell in Chak 40/SP. The infant was given the name Meerab by her maternal grandmother, Lateefan. On July 3, Samina persuaded Kousar, who was illiterate, to go with her to Sakeena’s residence so she could have her regular immunization. Salman, Kousar’s brother, and mother Latefaan went with her. The midwives informed Kousar that Meerab was unwell and needed to be taken to a private hospital in Lahore right away. For the examination, Kousar and Latifaan traveled to Lahore.
When Mahboob, Kousar’s husband, arrived in Lahore, his wife informed him that the infant was in critical condition and had been put in an incubator, news was notified.
The infant had a respiratory issue, and the midwives said that he needed to be held there for two days.
The infant was left at the hospital by her family, who would later retrieve her. The infant had vanished from the hospital; the midwives informed Kousar and Latifaan on July 6. The two suspects pointed them in the direction of Shahab Din and Ghulam Haider, two individuals who subsequently proved to be Sakeena’s sons. Kousar was offered Rs100,000 by the suspects to keep quiet.
