(PTI),Following the issuance of arrest warrants by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Sargodha, police raided the homes of Omar Ayub, the secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the opposition leader in the National Assembly on Sunday in Islamabad.
The warrants are part of a larger operation against PTI officials that began when they were removed from office in April 2022.
In a statement on X, Omar Ayub, the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, acknowledged the issuing of the warrants and chastised the government for their “desperate” efforts to capture him.
“Bailable arrest warrants were issued for me by ATC Sargodha, but Mianwali Police and Islamabad Police teams went to my Islamabad house to arrest me a few minutes ago,” Ayub said.In addition, he said that other institutions, including the federal and Punjabi governments, were planning to put him under arrest, illustrating what he called Pakistan’s weak legal system.
