KARACHI: During a protest in the port city the previous day, at least ten police officers—among them Eidgah Station House Officer (SHO) Zaheer Ahmed—were suspended on Monday.
Syed Asad Raza, the South Deputy Inspector General (DIG), claims that a departmental investigation has been opened against them.
The event occurred one day after two competing protestor groups in Karachi on October 13 (Sunday) disobeyed Section 144 and engaged in combat with riot police. Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi put restrictions in place before to the protest, outlawing demonstrations and any gatherings of more than five individuals in the city.
Around 100 people were arrested as a result of the unrest during protests in relation to the assassination of Dr. Shahnawaz Kunbhar, a blasphemy suspect.
