On Monday, a police officer who was providing security for the vaccination effort was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on an anti-polio squad in the Khyber area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The incident happened on the opening day of Pakistan’s year-long national anti-polio campaign, which aims to vaccinate 45 million children nationwide. The campaign will take place between February 3 and February 9.
Authorities verified that the killed officer’s body was sent to a hospital right away for treatment after the attack.
In order to find the perpetrators of this horrible act, law enforcement has started a manhunt.
