Peshawar: Unknown gunmen killed two polio workers in separate attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, tainting the opening day of the countrywide anti-polio campaign.
An armed assailant shot and killed a police officer in Karak’s Shakar Khel neighborhood of Banda Daud Shah tehsil who was securing a polio vaccination team.
However, according to the authorities, one polio worker was also hurt in the assault.
On his way to work, a polio worker was shot dead in Bannu’s Kala Khel Masti Khan neighborhood in a different incident.
The police claimed that the victim was involved in an old feud and that additional investigation was necessary, noting that the suspects left after the crime.
