Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, has said that the allegation of a supposed rape of a female student at a private college in Lahore is false. She has described it as a hazardous conspiracy by a political party to create instability after their demonstrations and protests failed to achieve their objectives.
CM Nawaz introduced a student who had earlier been depicted as an eyewitness to the purported rape on social media and in interviews during his speech at a news conference on Wednesday. This student disputed the allegations, claiming that she had heard the tale from other students before telling it to the media and that she had not even been on the college campus where the incident was purported to have happened.
A first-year student at the university was killed in the purported incident, which went viral on social media a few days earlier.
