Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam was encouraged by former Australian captain Ricky Ponting on Thursday to take a vacation in order to regain his form, similar to what India’s Virat Kohli did earlier this year and in 2022.
In an interview with the ICC Review podcast, Ponting recommended that Babar follow “the Virat Kohli approach” to fix his problems and revitalize his career, especially his Test form, where he has averaged 20.7 since 2023.
The right-handed batsman and two top pacers were given “rest” from the final two games of the three-match Test series against England at home in October after a string of poor performances. In the first Test, the Englishmen dominated the Green Shirts by a huge margin. The series was then won 2-1 by Pakistan.
