Over the past ten years, the Indian Navy’s vulnerability as a result of its inadequate defense technology has become more apparent. The research highlights grave worries over the nation’s naval capability by citing 15 significant mishaps during the last ten years.
The 2014 fire on the INS Sindhuratna, which claimed two lives, was one of the incidents cited. The first nuclear submarine in India, the INS Arihant, was also included in the study. An accident that caused environmental issues caused it to be out of commission for ten months. Furthermore, India’s technological prowess is called into doubt given the three-year delay in the INS Ari Ghat’s development.
Additionally implicated is corruption in the Indian Navy’s procurement procedure. Examples of kickbacks in arms deals (2006) and abnormalities in a 2013 torpedo are cited in the report.
