The fictional account of a boy who almost missed out on playing the young wizard in the movie series, along with the consequences it had on him later in life, is presented in Second Best.
Following roles in X+Y and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas on screen, Butterfield will play his debut role in a theater production.
Second Best is “equal parts hilarious and heart-breaking, a universal tale of ‘what ifs,'” according to a statement from Butterfield.
“I’m excited to bring it to life on stage for the very first time,” he continued.
The play will open on January 24, 2025, and run for one month at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith.
