Chief Senate Republican operative Steve Daines is stifling speculation that a red wave in fall would result in a sizable GOP majority in the Senate.
“My goal is 51. When asked what he hopes to accomplish in November’s elections, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) leader responded, “That’s the majority,” News reported this week.
Republicans are anticipating a favorable Senate map this year, with Democrats holding 23 of the 34 seats up for grabs. Currently, Democrats control the U.S. Senate, 51-49.
Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat, is not seeking reelection in Ohio, Montana, or West Virginia, three red states that the previous president Trump won in 2020.
