The PGMOL, which oversees referees, has fired Premier League official David Coote after conducting a “thorough investigation” into his actions.
A video purportedly showing Coote making disparaging remarks against Liverpool and the team’s former manager, Jurgen Klopp, went viral on social media, leading the PGMOL (the Professional Game Match Officials Limited) to suspend the 42-year-old on November 11 pending a thorough investigation.
Two days after the Sun released images purportedly taken at this summer’s European Championship, which purport to show Coote sniffing a white powder via a rolled-up US banknote, an additional investigation was launched.
The PGMOL declared Coote’s stance “untenable” due to his actions.
The news has not independently authenticated either the video or the images.
