ISLAMABAD: In a conversation with Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the president of Iran, President Asif Ali Zardari gave his word that Islamabad would keep collaborating with Tehran on any matter of shared interest in order to strengthen ties between the two countries.
The President’s House released a statement on Thursday stating that the two leaders spoke over the phone and wished each other a happy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The president emphasized the importance of improving information sharing in order to address the security issues that both nations are now facing.
“During the conversation, President Asif Ali Zardari offered his heartfelt condolences and sympathies with the Iranian leadership and the bereaved families who lost their dear ones in the Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus,” stated the statement.
At least seven people were killed when Israel launched an attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Among the military personnel slain in the attack were other senior commanders of Iran’s elite Quds Force.
Over 34,000 people have died as a result of Israel’s continuous onslaught in Gaza at the time of the attack.
In addition, President Zardari called for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza and voiced his concerns about the humanitarian situation and the genocide being perpetrated by Israeli forces.
