President Zardari expresses disapproval of the planned tax on agriculture
A few days ago, President Zardari emphasized the critical role that agriculture will play in Pakistan’s future and bemoaned the ignorance of some quarters recognizing this responsibility, which could result in incorrect tax policies.
Speaking at the Professor Waris Mir Memorial Seminar in Lahore, President Zardari emphasized that fair taxation policies are urgently needed, even though agriculture is still vital to the country’s economy.
He emphasized that, in accordance with IMF requirements, any suggested levies would mainly target large-scale farmers, leaving smaller farmers out to lessen their financial burden.
In addition, President Zardari spoke about more general geopolitical issues and forewarned of attempts by outside powers to foment division among Muslims.
