The statement was made by the Duke of Sussex at a panel discussion regarding the youth mental health epidemic that was sponsored by The Diana Award in New York.
Harry remarked, “Surely, one of the solutions here is for governments to implement or at least offer or find people, young people like yourselves, and bring them into decision-making, policy-making situations right before the problems exist.” He was speaking to two Diana Award winners who were there on stage with him.
We are adept at inventing difficulties for ourselves to attempt to solve. However, there’s no doubt that the difference will be made by involving youth in the early phases of those solutions.
As a working member of the royal family, he might not have been as forthright in the past when making remarks that some might see as political. Since leaving his official position, he doesn’t seem to be feeling as constrained.
This was his first public appearance since turning forty, and he was participating in the discussion.
