Five individuals were arrested after an Iraqi immigrant and anti-Islam campaigner was shot dead in Sweden on Thursday, just hours before he was scheduled to hear a court verdict after a trial for burning the Holy Quran.
According to Swedish police’s website, a prosecutor ordered the five to be jailed after they were apprehended in connection with the event late on Wednesday. They did not specify whether the gunman was one of the people in custody.
The court was supposed to decide whether 38-year-old Salwan Momika was guilty of inciting racial hatred for burning copies of the Holy Quran during many protests.
The decision was delayed until February 3 on the grounds that “more time is needed because Salwan Momika has died.”
