Maulana Hamid Ul Haq Haqqani was an Islamic scholar and politician from Pakistan who was assassinated on February 28 in a suicide explosion in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Records also show that from November 16, 2002, until October 2, 2007, he served as a member of Pakistan’s 12th National Assembly.
He graduated from the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.
The 57-year-old Haqqani was the eldest son of Maulana Samiul Haq, the vice principal of Darul Uloom Haqania in Akora Khattak, Nowshehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the founder of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami, a prominent religious scholar from Pakistan.
