Major Gen (retd) Hafeezur Rehman, the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTI), announced on Tuesday that negotiations were in progress to register Starlink, a satellite-based internet provider, in the nation.
The Musk-owned Starlink team met with Rehman during the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, according to a PTA spokesperson.
The discussion covered topics like the legislative environment, prospects for fostering digital connectivity in Pakistan, and access to high-quality broadband in rural regions.
The PTA chairman underlined the organization’s commitment to use contemporary technology to advance connection throughout the nation throughout the meeting.
The spokeswoman cited the PTA chairman as stating that “registration with satellite regulatory body is a prerequisite for obtaining a license.”
