In order to address the problem of unauthorized SIM cards in the nation, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken action. 69,000 SIM cards that were obtained through canceled or fraudulent identity documents have been blocked by the Authority.
This occurred after the cutoff date of August 16 for these SIM cards’ biometric authentication. PTA has verified that false or incorrect identification documents were used to register these SIM cards throughout Pakistan.
Users who wish to restore their blocked SIMs must first visit their cell operator or franchise to get their SIMs unblocked via biometric verification. They must then obtain new, legitimate identity cards from Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
