The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) responded to WhatsApp users in Pakistan who experienced problems sending and receiving media files over mobile connection.
However, the regulatory agency downplayed the incident and called the problem a small technical error.
PTA said in a statement that it has received a lot of complaints about sending and receiving media files on WhatsApp, as well as reports of unsuccessful or sluggish downloads.
In spite of these admissions, PTA’s answer implied that the issue was localized and did not call for serious concern.
In contrast to PTA’s position, a well-known monitoring site called Downdetector noted an increase in reports of WhatsApp outages in Pakistan.
Disruptions were reported by thousands of users, suggesting a more widespread problem than the PTA claimed.
